A celebration of URM in the community

It’s hard to go anywhere in or around the Northern Beaches of Sydney without seeing the logo of Manly Warringah Sea Eagles Major Partner – United Resource Management (URM).

This is because URM are involved in supporting just about everything happening in the local community.

From local schools, grass roots sporting clubs, charities and community groups, through to the Sea Eagles NRL and junior teams, URM is committed to positive community engagement at all levels.

URM has been a sponsor of the Sea Eagles for 22 years and over this period, has contributed several millions of dollars towards the Northern Beaches own national sporting team flying the flag for our region and delivering entertainment and community programs for local residents and families.

In addition to the significant investment with the Sea Eagles, URM have contributed and continue to provide several more millions of dollars in funding and donations into the local community.

With a local head office and multiple local depots, URM also employs hundreds of local Northern Beaches residents in a range of different positions from drivers to administrators.

But it’s not just all about the dollars being contributed back into the community says URM Managing Director – Mr Anthony Johnston.

“As a local family owned company established and grown on the Northern Beaches, it’s great to be in a position to contribute back financially, but what has become even more rewarding for us is our positive hands-on community engagement programs where we are interacting personally with local residents, directly educating young children and their parents on the importance of recycling and waste management,”

“The more we can continue to educate local residents around the importance of responsible and proactive recycling and waste management, the more we can be proud of our contributions to making an ongoing positive difference within our local community,” added Mr Johnston.

In a celebration of URM’s ongoing community involvement, over 400 local children took to the field in bright yellow URM shirts at half-time of the Sea Eagles home game against the Wests Tigers at Lottoland last Sunday for the annual ‘URM Cheer Experience.’

As part of the special URM match day partnership, URM provided hundreds of tickets to local community groups and Managing Director – Mr Anthony Johnston, along with his brother and CEO – Mr David Johnston, were presented with #1 and #2 limited edition 2018 signed and framed jerseys by Sea Eagles CEO – Mr Lyall Gorman and Club Ambassador – Mr Steve Menzies.

“Growing up on the Northern Beaches, I’ve seen first-hand the amazing support that URM has been providing within the local community for so many years,”

“Through this support of so many local community events, clubs and schools, I’d be surprised if there are many people in our local Northern Beaches region who have played in a local sporting team or attended a community event where URM haven’t been involved as a key sponsor or supporter,” Menzies added.

Since 1971, URM has come a long way from its humble beginnings as a single garbage collection vehicle providing waste services to the Sydney Northern Beaches community. URM is now one of Australia’s largest privately owned resource recovery and recycling companies with over 700 staff and a fleet of over 350 vehicles. An industry leader in Australia, URM has now also expanded into the UK.
